“If you talk to animals, they will talk to you and you will know each other. If you do not talk to them you will not know them, and what you do not know you will fear. What one fears, one destroys.” – Chief Dan George
We have a dream for an education center and an outdoor sanctuary for rescued domesticated or problem Wolves. Rather than the typical animals-on-the-inside, people-on-the-outside zoo format, the sanctuary will be built and supported in such a way that allows humans to safely observe while the Wolves run free. Our first goal is to ensure the best interests of the Wolves, that they will be able to live in their natural habitat. This will allow for a more authentic educational experience for those who visit to learn more about the age-old Wolf-Human relationship, and how it can be honored today.
At this moment we’re planning that all funds received by the Foundation will be used to build the sanctuary and grow the educational center, which is to be located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Once the sanctuary is built, we are envisioning that all funds received will go directly to support the Wolves (food, facility upkeep, and healthcare), and maintenance of the educational center. Our hope is that the sanctuary, educational center, and administration will continue to be staffed with volunteers. The Foundation will receive oversight from a volunteer advisory board made up of individuals from regional Native Tribes, those associated with state and federal resource management, environmental and educational organizations, and private individuals.
